- You can fall 19 times in fresh powder and escape without a bruise (it could very possibly be more than 19, I stopped counting).
- Watching other people fall is way more fun than actually skiing.
- Altitude sickness feels like a hangover, so you might as well enjoy yourself and be hungover.
- Colorado is COLD, so layering is key, even at bedtime!

in her pj's.
I just got back from a wonderful trip to Breckenridge with some of my favorite people. I learned a few things while there:

and takes one from the boys.
These little oxfords came into my life months ago, but I always forget about them when getting dressed. Poor things. I pulled them out today for a menswear inspired outfit (except for the tight sweater dress and polka dot tights, teehee).

and grows up.
I realize I might not be in Talbots' target age group yet, but when I stopped in the store to buy a gift, I was really impressed and delighted with their shoe selection. They had such a great mix of flats and pumps with just the right amount of embellishment. I would highly recommend checking them out (look at these adorable heels I got for $30!). They're currently having a great sale, to boot (err, to shoe).

to be warm and toasty.
After a very chilly day at the office on Monday, I decided to pull out all of my warmest and coziest clothes to keep my teeth from chattering on Tuesday. Enter my pleather leggings, this long sweater dress and an animal print scarf- mission accomplished.

for a rainy Monday.
When you don't get out of bed until 8am on a work day, you're forced to make some quick clothing decisions. There was rain the forecast too, which always throws a wrench in my plans. On days like these, I opt for basic tights, a sweater dress and a bold lip. This is also the season of snow boots- I'm not crazy enough to try to wear these wedges on my commute. Broken bones don't really go with my wardrobe.

to classic rock.
I loved this look that I came across in the most recent issue of In Style:
I decided to give it a try myself, and I was thrilled with the results. A little casual with the rolled jeans, a little elegant with the pearls, a little edgy with the leopard print shoes...a perfect combo.

to create a monochromatic monogram.
I had so much fun painting my American Apparel clutch last time, I decided to give it another go- using stencils to add my monogram this time around. I'm loving browns and golds lately, so I went with a yellow base and yellow/gold paint. Can't wait to take my little masterpiece out on the town.

to party.
What to wear to an after the holidays holiday party? Luckily I picked up some great pieces from two of my new favorite stores in NY- Joe Fresh and C Wonder. Joe Fresh doesn't have online ordering yet, but C Wonder has some inventory on their website. Check them out or stop by if you live in New York, you won't be disappointed.

to colorblock.
Today was an unusually warm day for January in Chicago, so when I woke up with absolutely no idea what I wanted to wear, the weather made me choose some bright colors. Tight, skinny jeans have been a go-to for me for years now; pairing those with a longer silky top, comfortable but chic wedges and a pop of pattern makes for an easy morning. I threw on my new favorite coat (in love with the different shape and awesome color) and headed out the door on time for once.
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

for her first day.
Today was a very exciting day for me- my first day at Trunk Club! Obviously, I had to have a special outfit. I picked up this little number while holiday shopping with my bestie at Bloomingdale's. The combination of the colors, swingy shape and pleats made it a must-have, especially at 50% off.
P.S. I wore tights and patent-leather wedges with this to work, but I got my feet out of those shoes approximately 7 seconds after I stepped in the door. Walking 2 miles in new shoes = not my best idea. Also they were control top tights (my enemy).
